Disease specific data
At PHARMO we gather our data from electronic medical records (EMR). These data are recorded as part of clinical patient care. Using real world data for research purposes is a complex task and requires extensive understanding of the strengths and limitations of these data, of how the data is collected, enrolment and coverage factors, and other factors that might affect the data quality and validity. Furthermore, extensive knowledge of social, political, cultural and historical settings is crucial to place the data in the right context.
Our tailor-made and disease-specific cohorts are based on cradle to grave principle. Individual medical information is even available from before birth. Through linkages with various healthcare databases, we are able to create a complete profile of a person’s medical history throughout their life, giving a complete overview of a patient’s journey. Note: PHARMO provides data analysis in accordance with the Dutch privacy regulations; therefore we never distribute personalised data.
